Find out what Christ Church Hemel finds important

These 3 things are at the heart of what we do at Christ Church Hemel:
At the centre of the Bible is a message Christians call “the gospel”, which simply means good news.
It’s the news that Jesus came to rescue people and begin putting our broken world right. He does that by dealing with the wrong in our lives—what the Bible calls sin—through his life, death, and resurrection.
That’s why everything we do is centred on Jesus and this message.
We believe God still speaks today by his Spirit through the Bible—not apart from it. So when it’s explained clearly and carefully, we’re not just hearing human ideas—we’re hearing from him.
In our Sunday gatherings, we work through parts of the Bible and explain what they mean and why they matter. We aim to keep it simple and honest—no performance, no spin—just helping people understand what the Bible actually says.
We don’t just want to understand the Bible—we want it to change us.
God’s Spirit uses his word to reshape our hearts, our priorities, and our lives. As we hear and trust what he says, he grows us to become more like Jesus—people who serve others, care for one another, and give ourselves for the good of those around us.
That’s why we aim to care for one another, serve our local community in Hemel, and help others discover the same good news about him.

We’re not made to live in isolation—we’re made for relationships. The good news about Jesus doesn’t just change individuals; it brings people into a new community.
The Bible calls that community the church. It’s not just a social club or a weekend event—it’s a family. A group of ordinary people, brought together by Jesus, learning to support one another, care for one another, and grow together.
Hemel Hempstead is a diverse and growing town, full of people from all kinds of backgrounds.
So we don’t just talk about the good news—we aim to live it out. We want to be known for love, kindness, and genuine care, both within the church family and in the wider community.

We believe this really is good news for everyone, so we don’t want to keep it to ourselves.
The message about Jesus is how God rescues people and brings them back into a right relationship with him. It’s not a list of rules or a self-help programme—it’s the story of rescue from sin and death, and of new life with the God who made us.
We want as many people as possible to hear it, understand it, and experience that change for themselves.
